It did feel appropriate to include a selfportrait in my exhibition. It has a lot of references in it to things that more or less define my values. Among other things, the painting in the upper right corner is an artwork made by Bryan Larsen called "How Far we have come", and the books include the writers Ayn Rand, Robert A heinlein and Gen LaGreca.
This is interesting to me because of all the details you've added which give clues to your personality. I'll guess on each one, and you can tell me if I'm right.
1. The map on your shirt
2. The stains of your pants
3. The books with the binding show (the titles)
4. The scene out the window?
5. The poster in the back, like you mentioned in the description
What else? Or what of those is correct?

I recently heard about a mass murderer who killed seventeen people in three days... they say he was a loner. Well, of course he was. He apparently killed everyone he came in contact with! - George Carlin
Very good.
You have pointed out almost everything that I intentionally put in the picture for that purpose. Maybe its too obvious but the fact that I'm "painting" on the computer is another ref to who I am, and then I guess you could say that the Mac as a brand is part of it too but in a lesser way. A harder thing to spot is that the map on my shirt tells something about me not because of what it shows (subway of Berlin) but of the information design that lies behind those kinds of maps. And then there's the book in my lap that I from the beginning intended too be of a greater importance, but now it's mostly a ref to intellectual activities or something like that.

The more you love, the more you can love--and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just. - Robert A Heinlein
I really like self-portraits because it's like I-spy. You can go through the picture and see what you can find about that person.

mm.. I understan what you meen.
However I don't think that the choice of subject, style etc in other paintings should be underestimated. They are a strong factor in judging personalities aswell... but maybe you agree
Hope my self-portrait offered a little bit of fun investigation

Wow, I'm so inspired by all of this! I keep scrolling back up because it's so much fun to look at! It's great to see something digitally painted as masterfully as this. You obviously really know what you're doing. I mean really. I have to say that my favorite parts of this are probably the items on your desk, the bookshelf, and your face. The items are excellently detailed; I especially love how realistically battered the books are. Read em a few times? Hehe. Also, I think the shadowing of the bookcase looks very realistic, full of depth. I dunno. Just something about it attracts me. And then you painted your own face /amazingly/. You just look so cute. X) That purple reflective light on the side is gorgeous... I just love those sorts of details. It adds so much! This whole piece is just full of atmosphere. <3 Anyway, I don't mean to babble, but I'm in love with your gallery now. <3 And I just wanted to let you know I think this is fabulous.
This is probably the nicest comment I've got so far on my works here on DA, and I'm very glad for it. About the books,.. yes, I've read the a few times, and they are my favourites Actually thought of making that part in to a still life painting for a while,... and maybe I'll do something like it in the future. Painting faces is always a minor hell for me, so I'm very glad you liked the result. However, I've made a few small changes to it in a retouched version of this painting. Almost not noticable so I prob won't upload it here... or maybe I will.. hmm... we'll see. Thanx again for the very nice comment
